Gigantic /// The Grand Paris Express is adding a new circuit of metro line right around the French capital. Working in a consortium with French and Italian partners, Implenia is building three of the sections. The tunnel-boring machine known as “Steffie” is being used for one of them and is the first TBM to be put in place out of the 21 being used for this giant project.

This section lies below the Spree Canal, so the first job is to freeze the earth in order to block any water coming into the station while the pilot shafts are expanded.

The Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) asks the Group to plan the twin-track extension of the railway between Varberg and Hamra on the country’s west coast. Expanded /// Working in a consortium, Implenia is building two turnkey extensions for the Biology Faculty of the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz – part of the university’s new Life Science Campus. The first building opens on the day the foundation stone is laid for the second, which is then scheduled for completion in summer 2020.

Part of the City Link project to improve electricity supplies in the greater Stockholm area, the tunnel is being drilled out by a tunnel boring machine 50 to 100 m beneath the Swedish capital. The total contract is worth around EUR 90 million.
